A cage partially encloses all or part of the rolling elements, and the bearing parts that move therewith, to isolate the rolling elements, and usually also guide the rolling elements and retain them in the bearings. The needle roller bearing has a small cross section but high load capacity, so it is very suitable for bearing arrangements with limited radial space. the rolling bodies are equally spaced, evenly distributed on the circumference of the raceway to prevent the rolling bodies from colliding and rubbing during work; guiding and driving the rolling elements to roll on the correct raceway; in the separate bearings, The rolling element is combined with a ferrule to prevent the rolling elements from falling off.

The cage has a variety of structural types and complex shapes. Many equidistant pockets on the cage, sometimes referred to as rolling windows, are used to isolate and guide the rolling elements. The pockets are spherical, circular, elliptical, rectangular and toothed, and their dimensions are larger than the size of the rolling elements. The difference between the two is the pocket gap. The pocket gap has a certain amount of motion in the radial and axial directions. The total radial activity is called the gap of the cage. The portion of the connection between the roller cage windows is referred to as the lintel, which acts to connect and increase the strength of the cage.
