The cage has a variety of structural types and complex shapes. Many equidistant pockets on the cage, sometimes referred to as rolling windows, are used to isolate and guide the rolling elements. The pockets are spherical, circular, elliptical, rectangular and toothed, and their dimensions are larger than the size of the rolling elements. The difference between the two is the pocket gap. The pocket gap has a certain amount of motion in the radial and axial directions. The total radial activity is called the gap of the cage. The portion of the connection between the roller cage windows is referred to as the lintel, which acts to connect and increase the strength of the cage.
