The tapered thrust bearing with cage is a split design so that the two washers as well as the roller and cage thrust assemblies can be easily installed separately. Full-bolt-screw bearings are held together by special positioning components. For ease of operation, the washers have threaded holes for lifting bolts. See the following introduction:
First, the small one-way tapered thrust bearing is almost entirely used in the steering knuckle bearing configuration of commercial vehicles. This tapered thrust bearing has a full roller and is fixed with a thin steel plate cover. Most of these bearings are equipped with wear-resistant, oil-resistant nitrile rubber (NBR) friction seals. These bearings are multi-purpose grease for lifetime lubrication and require no maintenance. There are a variety of designs, the only difference being the design of the bearing housing race and the bearing housing.
The larger tapered spring bearing washers are made differently; some tapered thrust bearing washers have the same coaxial and bearing housing races, while others have different design of tapered thrust bearing washers.
The gasket with the same size and coaxial bearing housing has a tapered raceway and a locating rib. Tapered thrust bearings of this design are often used in applications where large axial loads are to be experienced, such as on drilling equipment turntables or crane hooks. This tapered thrust bearing has a cage that is positioned by two washers.
Other designs of tapered thrust bearing shaft washers with tapered raceways and locating ribs, while tapered thrust bearing housing races are flat (flat). Therefore, the tapered thrust bearing of this design can accept slight eccentricity of the shaft relative to the bearing housing bore without adversely affecting bearing performance. In addition to several sizes with full rollers, this tapered thrust bearing has a cage that is concentric with the roller.
Second, the two-way tapered thrust bearing is mainly used in the rolling mill with multi-row cylindrical roller bearings. This tapered thrust bearing with a flat shaft washer is more popular because of this.
Bidirectional tapered thrust bearing
The tapered thrust bearing is capable of withstanding slight eccentricity of the shaft relative to the bore of the bearing housing and slight variations in the radial internal clearance used by the radially tapered thrust bearing. A spacer sleeve is disposed between the two bearing housing races. The size of the spacer sleeve allows the roll bearing housing cover screws to be fully tightened and the bearings do not require special spring adjustments.

Generally, the bearing with a flat shaft race has a higher axial load bearing capacity, and can radially position the shaft to a certain extent. If the load bearing capacity of the tapered thrust bearing is insufficient considering the required service life, a double-row tapered roller bearing designed with a large contact angle can be used, see “Double-row tapered roller bearing”.
Since the two-way thrust tapered roller bearings are usually loosely fitted on the roll journals and the roll bearing housings, most of the tapered thrust bearing shaft races have one or two positioning slots. This makes it possible to prevent the shaft race from rotating on the shaft by using a key embedded in the positioning groove or the like.

Third, this type of tapered thrust bearing must be able to withstand extreme axial loads and allow angular displacement of the threaded shaft relative to the support. Therefore, such bearings are usually full-roller type with large diameter and extra long rollers. In order to withstand the centering offset of the roll bearing housing without adversely affecting bearing performance, the tapered thrust bearing has a spherical race. The race can be a race ring or a bearing housing race.
In the bearing with a spherical axle race on the roller set between the spherical axle race and the corresponding concave spherical threaded shaft or pressure baffle, the necessary centering offset is produced. We can also supply the above pressure baffles.
When the bearing housing race is spherical, the centering offset is absorbed by the roller set between the bearing housing race and the pressure baffle. Pressure baffles for such bearings are typically supplied with tapered thrust bearings.
